Here is a step by step guide on how to use the platform Chegg.com for applying for internships. If you are a company and are wondering how to list an internship here I would suggest googling it since I am not sure, however you can see here what it looks like on the interns side. First I have listed the step with some instructions and underneath it is an accompanying photo of what should show up on your screen - NOTE - it will not be exactly the same (for example the internship listings change all the time) and it's usually tailored to your account and the types of internships you typically apply for.
step 1
First thing you are gonna do is go onto www.chegg.com/internships/ and create an account. If you already have one you can login. (you can create an account by logging in with google or manually setting everything up based on your preference) When you click on the Chegg Internships logo in orange you will be brought to this page shown below in which you can customize the types of internships you see by keyword (so you can put the type of internship you are interested in such as journalism, social media, etc or a company you had in mind) or by your city/state if you are looking for in person internships near you. Another option you have is to click on the Search button and have more options to customize your search so let's go ahead and do that.
step 2
Now we have the main page in which all the available internships are listed according to the features you set. As you can see on the left hand column I had some criteria already filled out such as the fact that I would like remote positions (work from home don't have to be present in an office), and the amount of time I can dedicate to the position. (if you scroll down there are two other options including the required educational level for the internship and whether or not you need a visa sponsorship. Before I take you through this process of applying to an internship, let's take a quick look at the other menu options first.
step 3
The next option after Search is the My Jobs tab. Here you can see all the jobs you viewed (when you click on the See Details button for more information on that specific job) as well as those you saved. (when you click the star on the top right hand corner of the internship description box) I am going to temporarily skip over the profile option and come back to it for Step 4. When you hover your mouse over the Browse option you can see lots of options for types of internships you can filter by that you are specifically looking for. Finally if you look at the career advice tab you have many resources to further help you if you're feeling unsure about what you want to pursue.
STep 4
Just as I promised we are back to the profile page in which you can use the chegg layout to create your personal chegg resume. This is a bit different than a standard resume template as you also can state your preferences for working. After you fill out all the forms with your education, jobs, skills, etc. you can save and download this resume for other internships or as a reference.
Step 5
Make sure to set your preferences in your account to receive emails when you get a message on chegg! Messages are how the internships contact you, make sure to be profession and polite when talking with them. It all depends on the internships, some will want to schedule an interview with you first while others may ask you to start right away. Remember you will most likely only get a message if you got the job or an interview, in most cases they will not reach out to let you know they aren’t interested. It’s also important to know that sometimes they don’t update their applications and such, so don’t take it too harshly if you apply to a bunch and only get one response back. I would recommend applying to a bunch for this reason specifically, and if you are lucky enough to be accepted into too many, you can politely decline the offer. There’s more information on that on the general internships page.
Step 6
And there you have it! That is a basic tutorial guiding you through the process of applying for internships using Chegg! If you are still confused you can re-read the instructions with their accompanying photos, or go to the FAQ and Help options on Chegg which they are typically very frequent with answering. Good luck and happy applying! :)
